Founded in 1992 as a passionate small business with big dreams, Advanced Electrical Installations, Inc. (AEI) has grown steadily over more than three decades into one of the most well-respected commercial and industrial electrical contractors in the region. Now, after more than $200 million in federal and private contracts and more than 100 successful projects internationally, AEI continues to build its reputation on foundational, personal, and productive relationships.

Matt Gass
President
Born into a family of electrical contractors, it was natural for Matt to pursue a personal journey into the trade from a young age. Learning the intricacies of the craft from his father, Matt has dedicated his life to the trade in building AEI into a name synonymous with excellence in the industry.
It was 1992 when Matt took a leap of faith in founding AEI. He’d spent years honing his skills and developing a deep passion for the value great electrical work brings to any project. From the beginning, the AEI strategy involved building the business on the shoulders of a team of highly skilled professionals with a shared commitment to delivering gold-standard results. The key difference between AEI and other electrical contractors is its commitment to precision, professionalism, and close collaboration with clients.

Vice President
Like many of the leaders at AEI, Buddy began his career in the field. Over the better part of two decades, he’s served in a variety of roles from front-line electrician to his current title of Vice President and contributed significantly to the growth and success of AEI. His expertise in international construction projects allows AEI to navigate diverse cultural and regulatory environments, expanding our operations globally and delivering exceptional results to clients around the world.
It was through his uncle, an industrial electrician, that he was first introduced to the industry in which he chose to build his career. Captivating stories filled with problem-solving and camaraderie of the team left a lasting impression on a young Buddy. Seeing his mentor’s passion come alive and the fulfillment he derived from his work are the things that inspired Buddy to embark on the intricacies of electricity as a career.

Project Manager
Tony Grove brings a wealth of experience and a steady hand to the AEI team. With over two decades in the electrical industry, complemented by hands-on involvement in space, aeronautics, and diverse international construction projects, Tony has built a reputation as a reliable and consistent force within the leadership team.
Having dedicated fifteen years to AEI, Tony’s commitment to the company’s values and mission is unwavering. Rather than seeking the spotlight, he’s consistently focused on learning, growth, and ensuring the best possible outcome for every project. His ethics and determination shine through in his work, making him a valued member of the AEI family.
Makenzie Gass
Controller
Boasting years of experience as a tax accountant, coupled with a degree in international business & management, Makenzie brings a high level of practical expertise and academic curiosity to the AEI team.
She brings a unique and in-depth perspective to her role optimizing all the financial processes and providing valuable insights that enable informed decision-making of this family business.
The personal connection she has with the company amplifies her motivation to help the firm grow and keeps her deeply invested in its success. Having a personal history with the company helps her support the growth of AEI and empowers her to make a tangible impact on the success of our clients and the industry as a whole.
Sherri mcdougal
Office Manager
Like the rest of AEI’s corporate leadership team, Sherri brings a deep dedication to teamwork and a sense of excellence to everything she does. Years of experience in a variety of industries enables Sherri to pivot and adjust to nearly every eventuality the company faces. She truly values every moment of the almost two decades she’s spent with AEI contributing to its growth and success.
If ensuring smooth day-to-day operations is the outside result of her work, it is through providing strong administrative support across departments, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, and deep experience in human resources management that the hard work gets done. One of her most valuable skills is her ability to foster strong relationships growing a positive and collaborative work environment.
